Since 2014, we have been a partner of Maker Faire Rome - The European Edition (MFR), which first took place in 2013. From the outset, we believed in an initiative that allows anyone with a good idea - be they professionals or students - to present and share their projects at this dedicated event. Since then, we have consistently taken part in this event because we have always found the most genuine and inspiring aspects of innovation in it.
Our support has grown over the years, aligning with the involvement of academics, researchers, innovators and start-ups who showcase advancements in scientific and technological research. Maker Faire Rome represents the sharing and dissemination of brilliant projects that can arise from both external and grassroots sources: the true strength of change lies in the creativity and ideas of all those involved in innovation.
Amid current and future challenges and new opportunities, we have evolved over the eleven editions of Maker Faire Rome, culminating in our recent hosting of the event in one of Rome’s historic industrial areas: the Gazometro Ostiense, which we have transformed into a centre for innovation and training in the heart of the city.
Scheduled from 25 to 27 October 2024, the most important event on technological innovation will focus on three key areas: Innovation, Creativity and Discovery. Once again, the twelfth edition will be held at the evocative Gazometro area in Rome, an ideal location for an event where innovation is the defining feature.
From 25 to 27 October, join us at Maker Faire Rome, the great innovation event.
The Gazometro, a former urban industrial site, was restored by Eni through various redevelopment efforts that began in 2017 and were completed in 2023. Now recognised as the largest innovation district in the city, the Gazometro ROAD - Rome Advanced District exudes an atmosphere of creativity, blending art, industry, and technology. In this open-air lab, technologies and groundbreaking projects are developed, tested, and brought to life by specialised talents and dedicated centres.
The Gazometro and the surrounding area host workshops, institutional events and initiatives open to the public.
From 25 to 27 October, Eni will once again host the event. There are many new features and the whole area of the Gazometro will be used as an exhibition space to celebrate sport.
"Innovators Like Us,” held from 20 to 22 October, was the transition edition that moved to the Fiera di Roma to allow Eni to begin a new redevelopment of the Gazometro area.
From 7 to 9 October, “Commonground – Innovation keeps us together” celebrated its tenth edition, which took place entirely at the new Gazometro hub.
“Fast Forward – The Future in the Making”, from 8 to 10 October, was the hybrid edition - online and in person - marking a significant beginning: the arrival at Rome’s Gazometro.
From 10 to 13 October, “Re: Make the World Together” was the fully online edition due to Covid-19. Eni continued to participate to present ideas and projects.
In the three editions centred around the concept of “Future”, Eni strengthened its presence at Maker Faire Rome with some of its proprietary technologies.
“The Future Of Everything”, from 14 to 16 October, marked the beginning of Eni’s participation with a dedicated area and the move to the Fiera di Roma.
The edition from 16 to 18 October, titled “Life With The Machines”, moved to La Sapienza University in Rome, and Eni continued to collaborate.
From 3 to 5 October, Eni began supporting the event dedicated to makers, innovators and start-ups titled “Let’s Make! (A Better World)”, at the Auditorium Parco della Musica.
With the first edition titled “How to REMAKE the World”, from 3 to 6 October, Maker Faire Rome made its debut at the Palazzo dei Congressi.
