Luanda (Angola), 27 June 2022 – The Minister of Health of the Republic of Angola Dr. Silvia Lutucuta, and Eni’s Managing Director Adriano Mongini signed today a Memorandum of Understanding targeting capacity building for health professionals. The signature ceremony took place at the Dom Alexandre do Nascimento Hospital Complex at the presence of Eng. Jânio Victor, Secretary of State of Mineral Resources, Eng. Paulino Jerónimo, CEO of ANPG, Eng. Gaspar Martins, CEO of Sonangol, Dr. Filippo Uberti, head of Eni Health, and other representatives of Governmental entities, beneficiary hospitals and of Eni.
Under the MoU, Eni will reinforce the cardio-vascular services of the Dom Alexandre do Nascimento Hospital Complex, strengthening the cardiovascular surgery capacity by setting up a training program to create sustainable cardiac surgery service for the region through on-the-job training in Angola, telemedicine, and 2nd opinion sessions. The company will also support the hospital’s cardiovascular service through the provision of cardiosurgical interventions (both medical and surgical) and provide technical support for the management of the hospital, focusing on hospital administration, human resources management and medical engineering.
The MoU will enable the training of to 100 cardio-surgery professionals to benefit an estimated number of 250 patients of cardio-surgery per year.
Eni is an active contributor for the promotion of the sustainable development of the country: apart from community health projects, the company has a number of other social projects focused particularly on access to energy, access to water and agriculture, mainly through an integrated and continuous approach, for the benefit of diverse communities across the country.
Eni has been present in Angola since 1980. Currently Eni is operator of Blocks 15/06 Cabinda North, Cabinda Centro, 1/14, 28 and soon NGC. In addition, Eni has a stake in the non-operated blocks 0 (Cabinda), 3/05, 3/05A, 14, 14 K/A-IMI, 15 and in Angola LNG.
In March of 2022, Eni signed an agreement with bp to form a joint venture called Azule Energy, combining both company’s businesses in Angola. The MoU to reinforce the cardio-vascular services of the Dom Alexandre do Nascimento Hospital Complex will be continued and supported by Azule Energy after the Completion Date, subject to Completion occurring and clearances by antitrust authorities being obtained.
