Eni’s CEO said: “It is important to be here in Tripoli to confirm Eni’s commitment to safeguarding the continuity of Eni’s Libyan operations and to support the National Oil Corporation (NOC) in its efforts to increase production. Eni has also been cooperating with the NOC to sustain the Libyan economy by contributing to satisfy the increase of domestic gas consumption, thus allowing the Country to leverage its vast national resources from local power plants, rather than importing alternative fuels. Eni and the NOC still have major oil and gas reserves to develop, in both onshore and offshore areas, and Eni is ready to play a key role as a strategic partner.”

After the lifting of the Force Majeure in December 2011, Eni was the first International Oil Company to resume petroleum operations in Libya. Despite the volatile security situation in the country, Eni has continued its exploration activities in the offshore, leading to several oil and gas discoveries.

Eni has been present in Libya since 1959 and currently produces 300,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in the country. It has also promoted sustainability projects to support the local population in the areas surrounding its operations sites.
