Eni Mexico, UNESCO and the Government of Tabasco deliver rehabilitation of the Central Hall in La Venta Park-Museum

The intervention in the La Venta Park Museum seeks to recover its original idea and its aesthetic and historical value as a unique site in Latin America.

Mexico City (Mexico), September 24, 2024 – Eni Mexico, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Government of the State of Tabasco delivered the rehabilitation and new museography of the Central Hall of the La Venta Park Museum.

As part of the initiatives foreseen by the MoU signed in 2023 and with the aim of restoring the aesthetic and historical value and promoting Education for Sustainable Development, Eni Mexico and UNESCO developed an innovative museography that combines interactive and audiovisual elements to explain the history of the Museum Park, the La Venta archaeological site, the role of its founder, Carlos Pellicer, and the Olmec culture, in addition to including a module for people with hearing and visual disabilities.

Key actors from the public, private, academic and social sectors have participated in this initiative, that will strengthen the educational, preservation, research and dissemination functions of the Museum Park, benefiting around 160,000 visitors, locals and tourists, more than 1,000 schools and more than 230,000 students in the municipality of Centro.

Supporting the sustainable development of local communities is central to Eni Mexico and UNESCO, so the strategic partnership is another step in the long-term commitment to communities and the Government of Tabasco, as well as contributing to achieving the goals of the 2030 Agenda.
