The energy of today & the energy of tomorrow, for 70 years
An event to share the story of our company
On Tuesday 10 October 2023, Eni's Chairman of the Board Giuseppe Zafarana, together with Eni's Chief Executive Officer Claudio Descalzi, celebrated Eni's 70th anniversary at the Gazometro in Rome. They presented a video message from Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, followed by a speech delivered by the President of the Senate, Ignazio La Russa. A delegation of Ministers from the Italian Government also attended the event.
The meeting was an opportunity to talk about energy and the history of Italy, with a look to the future. “In all the epochal changes experienced in 70 years, from coal to oil, from gas to renewables, Eni has had the ability to lead the transformation phases, dominating them rather than being subjected to these changes. That is where one of Eni's key features lies, one of its main strengths, one of the greatest factors of success," said Giuseppe Zafarana. "The challenge of these years has been to think and act resolutely with a fresh perspective, turning challenges into new paths to follow. We owe this achievement to the skills, ideas and team spirit of all colleagues," added Claudio Descalzi.
Eni is a company that has grown with Italy, over time becoming a key ally in the country's sustainable development – a role we continue to play today as a leader in the energy transition and a guarantor of national energy security. Our decarbonisation strategy to 2050 is built on solutions, services and products that will all contribute to carbon neutrality.
