The second edition of the Start-Me Up project has been launched in Catania and Palermo. The training programme, conceived by Joule, aims to revitalise the Sicilian region, starting from its young people.

More than 80 young people, aged between 18 and 30, will be involved in the programme. Thanks to a team of industry experts and local companies, they will have the opportunity to develop entrepreneurial skills.

The initiative, which also involves the Enilive Biorefinery in Gela, seeks to boost young people’s awareness of their own talent, boosting their range of soft skills and offering them the opportunity to explore entrepreneurial projects with the potential to directly benefit the local area – starting from Eni's energy supply chain. In addition, the project strengthens Eni's support of the school and university system for the unemployed (NEETs).

The training programme

To help people prepare themselves effectively and develop entrepreneurial skills, the programme features structured activities delivered both remotely and in-person. The two parallel programmes, lasting six months, focus on the development of skills that are useful for starting a business from both a technological (AI and new technological trends) and management (business modelling, team organisation, prototyping) standpoint.

To ensure the project makes an effective impact, key players in the Sicilian, national and international ecosystem are involved, such as EY and Startup Geeks, EY Foundation, Polo Meccatronica Valley, Isola Catania, Nvidia, TimeFlow, Buddy Job (Oneday Group) and Sicindustria.

Given that 1,000 potential participants have expressed interest, applications will remain open until October 30, 2024.

Start-Me Up is the eighth project hub opened by Joule in Italy, joining Milan, Rome, Novara, Venice, Ravenna, Taranto and Potenza.
