A whole day dedicated to entrepreneurial culture. Unlocking Financial Excellence, the event organised by Eni's Accounting and Financial Statements department in collaboration with Joule, returns to the Gazometro in Roma Ostiense.  The initiative aims to explain the crucial role that a widespread entrepreneurial culture can play in engaging and developing staff within a company.

In the first part of the day, a series of speeches by Eni's management helped the 30 young participants to better understand the company's objectives and strategy. During an afternoon workshop, participants were divided into five teams and put themselves to the test by taking part in a challenge aimed at generating ideas for innovation in the company.

This second edition of the initiative was also attended by Francesco Gattei, CFO of Eni, who explained to the young people present that “at Eni, we pride ourselves on being creative and dynamic in transformation, with complex changes that are different from the digital world. Changing the digital world takes a moment, changing the real world takes decades. We need to be aware of this complexity," emphasised Gattei, "and push for real innovation.” According to Eni's CFO, “in order for the company to build the engine of the energy transition, without damaging the economic structure, the solution is to find external sources of financing by creating satellites. The structure within these satellites, but also within Eni itself, must have a diversity of talent and professionalism to continue the transition, which must be nurtured and trained.”

For Mattia Voltaggio, Head of Joule, "the aim of the day is to provide an interpretation of the word 'innovation' that is not usually used. We think innovation is only related to technology, instead it affects all sectors of Eni, and it is an intrinsic part of being human. Spreading an entrepreneurial culture in companies enables people to acquire and develop those cross-cutting skills that add value to achieving results," explained Voltaggio. “This culture is based on three key pillars: lateral thinking, to find solutions that are more effective than established practice; reduced risk aversion, to view 'intelligent' failure as an opportunity for continuous learning; and an aptitude for prototyping, to reduce the time and cost of getting ideas to market. Bringing an entrepreneurial mindset to management, bringing our people into close contact with the ecosystem of startups and Joule's partners, fosters processes that unleash the creative potential of all staff. All of this is of value to the company in terms of economics, social impact and internal know-how," he concluded.
