The seventh edition of “The Big Hack”, organised by Maker Faire for all those who want to try out the latest new tech and innovation, is nearly upon us. The date is set in Naples on 1st and 2nd July at the Apple Developer Academy.

This year too, Eni Joule is participating in the hackathon with the challenge: “GenAI for Sustainable Development”, with the aim of developing ideas based on Generative Artificial Intelligence (such as Apps or software/hardware solutions), in keeping with at least one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

The winning team will receive a 5,000 Euro Amazon voucher (up to a maximum of 1,000 Euro will be awarded to each team member, for a maximum of 5 team members).

GenAI is without a doubt one of the most surprising innovations and at the same time it is one of the most controversial AI developments. This technology has the ability to create synthetic data in various contexts and support humans in their activities.

Making the most of the full potential of GenAI means opening up to various possibilities, exploring new frontiers and pushing boundaries. We use GenAI as a source of inspiration to develop innovative ideas, to create new products and services and to tackle complex challenges.

Today, more than ever before, digitalisation helps create value, aimed at making Eni’s business increasingly integrated, efficient and sustainable. Computing power, data, artificial intelligence support the energy transition strategy by accelerating the research, development and production process. Digital transformation is crucial to ensuring long-term competitiveness and sustainable growth, while achieving strategic targets.

Eni’s mission is inspired by the United Nations 2030 Agenda, launched in September 2015, when more than 150 leaders from around the world met to contribute to global development, promote human well-being, and protect the environment. This action plan encompasses the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, covering all areas of social, economic and environmental development, considered in an integrated and organic manner.
