Joule supports agribusiness in Kenya

The “Seeds for Sustainable Energy” call is in full swing, 10 startups out of 202 candidates will participate in the 4-day Bootcamp in Nairobi.

Joule has launched a project to support agribusiness innovation in Kenya. This sector is particularly important for the Country’s economy and is strategic for stimulating growth, reducing poverty and ensuring food safety.

The first step was the call for startups Seeds for Sustainable Energypromoted by Joule and the non-profit organisation BeEntrepreneurs. The candidature phase ended in March 2023. In April, 10 entrepreneurial project will be selected to participate in an innovation bootcamp in Nairobi. Four days, from 2 to 5 May 2023, in which the selected startups can come into contact with the BeEntrepreneurs and Eni teams and the respective network of trainers, innovators and investors. The initiative will be based on two pillars: entrepreneurial training and local impact creation. 

The call figures

A total of 202 startups applied to the call, with a significant percentage of women founders (54%) and a high concentration of projects from Eastern Africa (89.7%) and from the agribusiness and circular economy sectors (55.2%). Applications were received not only from Kenya but also Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda.
