The alliances that have made the Eni Coral South project possible

Coral South is the first Eni project for the development of gas resources that were discovered in the Rovuma Basin, in Area 4 off Mozambique’s coast. Mozambique Rovuma Venture holds 70% of the concession and is constituted by Eni with 35.71%, CNPC 28.57% and ExxonMobil 35.71%.

This project encompasses all the elements of technological innovation, exploratory talent, time to market, international collaboration, training and sustainability that are characteristic of Eni. The production and sale of gas from the Coral field will take place through Coral South, the giant floating natural gas liquefaction plant built with partners at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyards in South Korea.

With a capacity of around 3.4 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), Coral South FLNG, the world's first plant of its kind built for Africa, will start producing LNG in the second half of 2022, adding Mozambique to the world's LNG-producing countries.

The international team

Today we have the opportunity to say that, despite the setbacks of the Covid-19 pandemic and other challenges, it was possible to implement the project on schedule, ensuring that the start of LNG production remains scheduled for 2022, which is evidence of our determination and resilience
