Eni's Coral South project
Towards new horizons with the Coral Sul FNLG
If a drone flew over the coast of Mozambique, it would spot a ship the size of four football fields lined up in a row and with the tonnage of two large cruise ships: it’s the Coral Sul FLNG, Eni's first floating natural gas production and liquefaction plant and the first in deep water on the African continent, the extraordinary result of advanced technologies, developed thanks to the skills of Eni’s people in collaboration with their outstanding partners.
The FLNG facility is part of the Coral South Project, which is aimed at developing the gas resources of the Rovuma Basin off Mozambique's coast. It will have capacity for 3.4 million tonnes per year of liquefied natural gas (LNG), thus making a significant contribution to the supply of gas in a market that requires reliable and secure energy sources to support the energy transition, as well as acting as a lever of economic and social development for Mozambique.
FLNG Coral Sul is also a great opportunity for Europe to diversify its supply
