Abstract: Access to energy is crucial to development in the places we work in.

In the countries we work in, we develop energy resources for both export and local areas, supporting local people by building <b>facilities</b> for producing and distributing gas and generating electricity. <br> <br>Our goal is to promote <b>development and diversification in local markets</b>, in the knowledge that by growing together, we strengthen everyone.<br><br> <q>We are an energy company and we have a moral duty to build a future in which everyone has sustainable, efficient access to energy resources. Title: 02. Access to water
Abstract: Improving access to water resources is one of the goals of our sustainability projects around the world.

Description: <p> Water is the most precious resource in the world. We see <b>access to water</b> and basic sanitation as a key element of development in the countries we work in. This is why we promote initiatives for it.<br> In Africa in particular, we are <b>improving sanitation </b>in the places we work in, building wells, purification plants, water distribution networks and sewage collection points.<br> <br> In Nigeria, together with <b>FAO</b>, <b>we're building wells powered by solar energy</b>. We drill them, rig them up with photovoltaic systems and train people on how to use and maintain them. Through Eni East Africa (EEA) in Mozambique, we've built water systems in two neighbourhoods of the town of Palma. <br><br> </p>

Abstract: We place health protection at the centre of all our goals, both for our staff and for the communities in the places we work in.

Description: <p>Protecting the health of the people who work with us and live in the places we work in is a fundamental value and a core part of our business model. We care for our staff and local communities, focusing on excellence. <br><br> We have a health management system based on the international <b>OHSAS 18001</b> standard that we use in every sphere of activity. On our Upstream sector, we have carried out further studies to assess the impact of our projects on public health and the environment. <br><br>We help develop <b>local healthcare systems</b> in the countries we work in. We improve human resources with our medical skills and strengthen institutions, infrastructures and healthcare facilities. </p>

Title: 04. Human Rights
Abstract: We have made human rights a part of our regulatory system and governance procedures.

Description: <p>Respect for human rights is a fundamental part of our internal regulatory system. Besides the <b>Eni declaration of respect for human rights</b>, we have written this value into our main company policies, like the <b>Code of Ethics </b>and <b>Working Guidelines</b>. <br> <br>Our structure and governance processes are designed and developed on the basis that human rights are an essential value. To respect the <b>UN's Guiding Principles</b>, we have set up a process of <b>due diligence</b>. <br> <br>We assess and monitor risks, identify ad hoc strategies and solutions, and commit to being more efficient in preventing and reducing impact. We put in place mechanisms for lodging complaints at a work level, which are integrated with regulatory mechanisms. </p>

Abstract: We encourage the economic development of the countries we work in, through initiatives for creating long-term value.

Description: <p>We carry out a varied range of socio-economic activities in the places we work in, to feed independent, sustainable local development. <br><br> We want to <b>empower women and young people</b>, and support <b>new micro businesses</b>, especially in agriculture, animal husbandry and fishing, as well as creating infrastructure. Raising awareness on the importance of education is also something we promote, as it is key to creating an educated and inclusive society, whether in Mozambique or Italy. <br><br>We do all this because we believe that energy companies should play an active role in local development, with a view to the long term. </p>
