Eni Foundation in Congo – The Minister of Health, Prof. Moyen, visits Salissa Mwana project sites

From January 19th to the 21st Congo’s Minister of Health, Professor George Moyen, accompanied by the Ministry’s Director General, Professor Alexis Elira Dokekias, visited several of the Salissa Mwana project health facilities in the Kouilou (at M’boukou e Hinda) and Cuvette (at Boukuele, Loukolela and Mossaka) regions, where he was able to appreciate the progress and the important results reached by the vaccination and epidemiological screening program against the main infant diseases being conducted in the Country’s rural and isolated areas.

Following the visit, in a letter addressed to Mr. Paolo Scaroni, the Minister expressed his satisfaction for the important work being carried out, in particular with respect to the overall sustainability of the model employed by Eni Foundation in implementing the project (in addition to the cold chain system to store and transport vaccines, all the facilities involved are equipped with drinking water and solar panels to produce electricity), which, he said, “will be adopted as a standard for future health interventions in the country”.
