Eni Foundation and Smile Train In Indonesia – The first children operated on in Tarakan
The first surgical mission of Smile Train volunteers took place between July 20th and the 26th at the Provincial Hospital of the city of Tarakan, in the East Kalimantan Region, where Eni Foundation and Smile Train Italia are carrying out a project for the treatment of children affected by cleft lip and palate.
In the course of the mission 61 little patients were operated on and the training program for the local medical personnel aimed at promoting the transfer of competences necessary for an autonomous management and the development of the new cleft lip and palate center at the Tarakan Hospital was also launched.
