On July 14, Kilamba Kiaxi’s Municipal authorities officially took charge of the 6 ambulances purchased by Eni Foundation for the mother and child healthcare-nutritional project it is carrying out in the Municipality.
The deployment of these ambulances will allow for a significant improvement of the emergency transportation system for patients in the Municipality’s 6 districts and will become and integral part of the prevention and treatment provided by the project.
As of today, in addition to putting into operation the ambulances, the main activities carried out under the project involved:
Improvement of technical-managerial capabilities of healthcare personnel & strengthening of epidemiological screening
By carrying out training programs in Gynecology and Obstetrics, Neonatal Care, Pediatrics and Nutrition organized at the Hospital da Divina Providência, which will be gradually extended to all the other health facilities in the Municipality.
Expansion of the healthcare service network
By supplying equipment, instruments and furnishings to the Municipality’s first-level healthcare facilities and by beginning the construction of the two new Health Centers as well as of the Nutritional Treatment and Prevention Center at the Hospital da Divina Providência.
Strengthening and extension of maternal-infant healthcare services
By conducting health information and education sessions (disease prevention, basic hygiene, nutritional education) aimed at alleviating critical public health problems.
