Eni Foundation

How we select the projects

Eni Foundation identifies and defines its initiatives on the basis of a series of prerequisites, which include:

  • consistency with the Foundation’s objectives and priorities
  • effectiveness, in terms of being capable of responding to a need at the local level and of making a tangible contribution to the general wellbeing of the community or to addressing specific needs
  • involvement of local stakeholders
  • self-sustainability: projects must be capable of continuing autonomously after their completion, in particular through the development and improvement of the needed local competences
  • overall sustainability: evaluation of the institutional context (support/commitment of institutions and political authorities for the initiative), the socio-cultural factors (local norms, traditions and customs) that can have a determining impact on the success of the project, as well as of the possibility of integration with other initiatives carried out by other organizations
  • measurability of the expected results in the short and long term
  • possibility of replicating the initiative in different settings and situations.
