Supplier Management

For a company like Eni the creation and consolidation of strong and lasting relationships with companies in the supply system and ancillary activities is of strategic interest to ensure both the application of the principles of sustainability and to serve as a lever for development.

The consolidation of the relationship with suppliers is based on shared values and goals, trust and mutual understanding. This is why Eni has put in place and consolidated processes and management systems shared across the procurement functions and with suppliers.
These actions have led to both a greater knowledge and control of suppliers and an increase in the quality of services. On the other hand, through the establishment of high standards of quality, Eni has created competitive differential for companies that expands their market reach, offering opportunities for growth and development for the territory. Consequently all of the processes put in place for the management of suppliers are communicated to interested parties by Eni in a transparent manner and are subject to continuous improvement processes.

The company requires suppliers to conform to specific regulations and standards, such as the Code of Ethics, the Model 231, and the Guidelines for the protection and promotion of human rights, as well as respect for the principles and practices of health, safety and environment, in order to meet general and specific contractual standards. Suppliers are also subject to qualification and audit process, inspection & expediting visits, as well as performance evaluation and verification of corrective actions taken. Eni assists suppliers in their improvement processes, in the joint interest of achieving such goals and these actions result in both a greater knowledge and control of suppliers and an increase in the quality of services provided.

Over the years Eni has perceived a need to facilitate interaction between buyer and supplier for the exchange of technical and commercial information. The company's e-procurement portal is an important tool for communicating with suppliers, and its creation and constant updating is a response to this need. The portal facilitates the rapid and efficient automation of purchasing processes while offering suppliers a privileged channel of communication with Eni.
