Diversity

Eni is a kaleidoscope of diversity.
The encouragement of diversity and the protection of equal opportunities is explicitly addressed in Eni's Code of Ethics and are at the heart of the company's Sustainability Model, effectively contributing to the creation of value of all of the company's stakeholders.
For Eni, placing diversity at the centre means:

  • Developing to the maximum the talents and skills of all the men and women who work in the company, also by recognising gender differences and through the effecting protection of equal opportunities for all.
  • Maintaining and developing the company's culture as an international enterprise, able to integrate the cultural differences of people and communities in the countries where it operates.
  • Promoting wellbeing and cohesion inside the organisation, creating opportunities for young people and valuing experience, while respecting generational differences.

As part of the Laboratorio Armonia initiative, a research project is currently underway, in collaboration with SDA Bocconi, entitled Diversity: organisational structure, practice and culture.
The research is focusing on the scale of gender difference. Culture difference and so-called "age diversity" and is being carried out in three stages:

  • an organisational analysis, which aims to identify the organisational peculiarities of Eni with regard to roles and to analyse the main human resources management practices from the perspective of the promotion of diversity;
  • an analysis of the organisational culture, to identify the prevailing behaviour and culture regarding diversity in order to highlight the eventual existence of stereotypes and prejudices affecting the different categories under examination;
  • the elaboration of a plan for the implementation of emerging areas for improvement.

Regarding gender differences, Eni has also been involved in the WIST, Women in Science and Technology project, promoted by the European Union, which aims to encourage and enhance the presence of women in technical and scientific areas of industry.
