Eni confirmed in the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Europe Indexes

8 September 2011 – For the fifth year in a row, Eni's position has been confirmed, in the first and most prestigious international sustainability index. With the confirmation of Snam Rete Gas on the Dow Jones Sustainability World index and of Saipem on the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe index, all of eni's main listed companies are included in the Dow Jones family of sustainability indexes, a demonstration of the integrated nature of the company's business and the across-the-board commitment to sustainable development.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Index, first launched in 1999, tracks the financial performance of the shares of companies who have distinguished themselves for excellent results form a business, social and environmental perspective, and highlights the leading companies in terms of sustainability in each sector. The sustainability of the companies that are candidates for inclusion in the index – 2,500 of the world's largest companies in terms of capitalisation – is evaluated every year by taking into consideration aspects relating to corporate governance, risk & crisis management, climate change, eco-efficiency, the supply chain, people management and relations with stakeholders and the territory.
Eni achieved the highest score in the oil & gas sector in the analysis areas regarding business transparency, refining, reporting and overall environmental reporting.
