Additives are components of lubricant oils, organized in complex mixes (packets) which are added to the mix of bases to make the attainment of required performance levels possible.
The interaction between the various additives can be synergic or antagonistic: the study of these interactions is the basis for the acquisition of know-how.
The additives can be classified on the basis of the fact that:
Eni has operated in the sector of additives for lubricants for more than twenty years, covering all of the possible activities: research and development, production, sales and after sales service for customers, thanks to a dedicated department within Refining&Marketing
Eni additives are sold in more than thirty countries worldwide under the name MX. Eni possesses, through its subsidiary EniTecnologie, very modern research and development facilities, where the additives are developed and tested in a laboratory.
In addition, in the same structures, the productive processes are perfected on a pilot scale, which will be adopted on an industrial level for the production of components and additive packages.
The developed components and the packages are mostly produced in the Eni plant at Robassomero (Turin) which has high standards both in terms of productive quality (ISO 9002 certificate), and in terms of respect for the environment (ISO 14002 certificate).
The range of additives that Eni is able to offer is very wide and diverse, from the single component (detergent, VM, PPD etc.) to the already complete additive package, in order to satisfy all of the performance needs requested by customers.
