Eni has been present in Kazakhstan since 1992.
The main activities are performed in the onshore Karachaganak field in western Kazakhstan and in the area covered by the offshore North Caspian Sea PSA in the shallow waters of the Northern Caspian Sea, where the Kashagan project is in development.
In the medium term Eni's production in Kazakhstan is expected to grow and exceed the present level of production of ca 108 kboepd due to the contribution of a further phase of development at Karachaganak and the start up of Kashagan.
Eni is co-operator with BG Plc, with a 32.5% interest in the Karachaganak oil, gas and condensate field. In 2010 production from this field (net to Eni) averaged 65 kbl/d of liquids and 6.7 mmscm/d of natural gas, totalling ca 108 kboe/d. Approximately 70% of the liquid production is stabilized at the Karachaganak Processing Complex (KPC) with a capacity of ca. 200 kbbl/d, The stabilised liquid is exported to Western markets, the majority through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium’s pipeline (Eni's interest 2%) which is linked to the field by a 635 kilometre pipeline, whilst the remaining liquid flows though the Atyrau-Samara pipeline.
