In 2010 Eni invested €9.69 bn in developing its assets in consolidated areas like Africa, the Gulf of Mexico and Central Asia. Exploration during the year (€1.012 bn) yielded major results, especially with the appraisal of the giant Perla find in Venezuela and discoveries in Block 15/06 off the coast of Angola. Other major finds were made in the North Sea, Egypt, Pakistan, Indonesia, Nigeria and, through Galp (in which Eni has a 33% holding), in Brazil.
47 new exploratory wells were drilled (Eni stake 23.8%) with a commercial success rate of 41% (Eni stake 39%).
