Reach Project

Reach Project

1st June 2007 is the date when REACH, the new Regulation for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals, has come into force. The new Regulation has replaced a number of European directives and regulations and had placed responsibility on the chemical industry to demonstrate the safety of its products.

The acronym stands for: Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals. The aims of REACH are to improve the protection of human health and the environment with the goal of achieving "sustainable development" and to enhance innovative capability and competitiveness of the EU chemical industry.

The European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use (EC n. 1907/2006) known as REACH deals with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances has come to completion after it was launched in February 2001 with the White Paper on the "Strategy for a future chemicals policy".

The REACH Regulation became definitively effective on 1 June 2007.

It accounts for sort of an reappraisal of more than 40 different directives and regulations of the European legislative framework which had developed historically in the field of chemical substances, and deals on a wider basis with the manufacturing, imports and use of these substances.
In Italy the REACH Regulation concerns more than 2 thousand companies in the chemical industry and more than 10 thousand organizations in the transformation business.

Polimeri Europa shares without any reserve the objectives of the REACH Regulation which aim at enhancing attention on health and environment.
Since 2001 Polimeri Europa has been following the progress of REACH and the White Paper adopting the essential change of the cultural evolution into the European chemical context.
Therefore, a real "management system" has been set up to face in a proper way the organisation and economic engagement required by the Regulations.
This system applies a central new policy as far as the "product" is concerned and hence it adapts the organisation structure by means of integrated professional skills of interest with different knowledge and kinds (i.e. administrative, technical-scientific and legal).

This system of application provides for a continuous flow and control of information within and outside Polimeri Europa (i.e. suppliers, customers, authorities) as well as a continuous control of the product security promoting, if necessary, the research and development of technologic solutions or alternative products.

reach Project

A key element in the dealing with the REACH Regulation directives is a smooth and efficient communication among all actors: manufacturers, suppliers and customers.
