A collection of images of large-scale petrochemical plant run by the Eni subsidiary in the chemicals sector: the Bari refinery, built in 1938 for the refining of Albanian crude using a hydrogenation process; the Livorno refinery, completed in 1940 with equipment for the production of lubricants and parafins, for which there are also photographs of the damaged caused by wartime air raids; the petrochemical plant at Ravenna with photographs of its inauguration in 1958 in the presence of Enrico Mattei and leading political figures; photographs of the processing plants for grease and lubricants at the Novara refinery; the petrochemical plant at Gela for which images have been kept of the laying of the foundation stone in 1960 with Enrico Mattei and the minister Emilio Colombo. The Archive also holds photographs of a range of official events, such as official visits to the plants by Enrico Mattei, and moments of the daily life of the workers.
