Energy demand in Italy, produced by the Studies and Researches Department, is a quarterly analysis of the economic situation and energy requirements in the country. It includes a breakdown of consumption by sector divided according to source. Demand for electricity from the grid, meanwhile, is broken down by production from heat sources, from renewable sources, importation, destination of auxiliary services and surges.
The data constitutes the most up to date national statistics, are gathered on a monthly basis and are expressed in levels and percentage changes against the same period of the previous year.
The analysis is enriched with a series of micro-indicators concerning product trends, demographic growth, energy efficiency, energy consumption and relative CO2 emissions that make it possible to provide indications about Italy's positioning with regard to the objectives of the Kyoto Protocol.
The sources used for the data are principally: Eni, Terna, ISTAT (the Italian Office of Statistics) and the Italian Ministry for Economic Development.
